Gentry and Davis trade blows in a Troll War
If you’re an NBA fan, then you’re well aware of the circus that has been going on in New Orleans over the past few months. Anthony Davis, one of the league’s best players, requested a trade this season, and everything went downhill from there. In the end, Davis’ relationship with the organization, and coach Alvin Gentry, deteriorated to the point to where he was truly showing up so he didn’t get fined.
Then, in his last appearance in a Pels uniform at the Smoothie King Center, Davis trolled the entire organization and its fans by sporting a “That’s All Folks” tee shirt before the game. Gutsy move for someone whose team still controlled his trade destination.
Gentry got the last laugh
In the end, The Pelicans found a trade that worked out for both parties. Davis was sent to the Lakers in exchange for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and a handful of first-round draft picks. While Davis now gets to compete for a championship playing alongside Lebron James, the Pelicans walked away with enough to make Gentry happy.
